Valentine’s Day will soon be here! Everywhere we go we see hearts and glitter and red and pink (including this site!) Seeing all of the decorations brings thoughts of love to the forefront of my mind. While our culture typically focuses on the romantic part of Valentine’s Day, I just love it for a different reason. Every year I enjoy this holiday as a time to think about the power of love and what it really means. For me, it serves as a wonderful and simple reminder of what Jesus famously summed up as the most important commands in all of scripture: love God & love others. I love the easy opportunities it provides to teach the kids about love. God’s love for them, our love for them, our love for each other, how important love is and what it means to love God and love others.

I enjoy taking the focus off of having a “valentine” and knowing each person on this earth was created by the ultimate One who is LOVE and Jesus came to earth as the ultimate expression of that love for us. Amazing Love!
